Selwyn Lecture 2026

Ministry & Leadership

Tuesday 3 November 2026

The annual Selwyn Lecture will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday 3 November 2026.

The theme for this year is Being the "Church if Every Communirty" in a Divided Nation where we will reflect together on what it means to be the Church in Every Community at a time when our nation can feel increasingly divided. Our conversations will touch on some of the challenging issues facing our communities, including the display and symbolism of flags, the rise of the far right, and the visions these can expose or deepen. Most importantly, we will consider how we, as the Church, can help build unity, foster belonging, and remain a Church for everyone, bearing faithful witness to Christ in every community.

We are delighted to welcome to two guest speakers -

• The Rt Revd Lynne Cullens (Bishop of Barking in the Diocese of Chelmsford and Chair of the National Estate Churches Network)
• Jennie Johnson (Director of the West Midlands Racial Justice Initiative).
