We have been awarded a further £100,000 to distribute as NZ Quick win grants during 20026-28 - this in addition to the £68,000 awarded for 2024-25
This grant can be used for the following:
- Insultation and draft proofing
- Lighting
- Heating controls (including zoning)
- Efforts to reduce or eliminate use of oil or gas for heating
- Electrical upgrades
- Temporary heating solutions
- Work that helps address ingress of damp
- Solar PV systems

Ineligible Works
Non-capital works are generally ineligible unless they are a legal requirement of an eligible capital project (eg certification of electrical works).
Guidance notes
- Only one application per church
- Maximum grant size for improvements £2,500 or upto £4,000 for temporary heating solutions
- Applications for temporary heating solutions should be accompanied by a professional report stating that the current heating cannot be repaired
- Can be used for a standalone project or as a contribution towards a larger project but must be considered a quick win
- Work must be completed, and grant claimed within 12 months of the offer date or by December 2028
- Ecclesiastical permission must be in place before an application will be considered
- To be eligible to apply, all grant applicants must have completed and submitted their most recent EFT return, Mission Stats and finance returns.
- From the 1 April all applicants must also be registered with Eco Church before an application can be considered.
- To show best value, three quotes will be required, however we realise that it can be difficult to achieve this and so may take two or suggest other firms that could be approached.
- For temporary heating solutions, there may be a need to consider applications between meetings. A sub group of TPLG will do this.
As a diocese we will require:
- Applications to be submitted to the Trusts, Projects, Loans and Grants committee
- No work to be started before a grant is confirmed
- a grant acceptance form to be completed when a grant is awarded,
- Invoices to be provided to call down the grant.
