St John the Baptist, Tixall, is one of the churches in the Cannock Chase area which has benefitted from the generosity of the Cannock Chase Local Partnership (CCLP). They are among those being offered a ‘capital item,’ in their case a bench. CCLP is suggesting items such as benches, accessible picnic benches, bird boxes, bat boxes, hedgehog boxes, compost bins, water butts to meet their objective of enhancing churchyards, promoting churches’ connection with the Chase and helping them on their Eco church journey.
Churches taking up the offer were asked to provide a short paragraph on why this equipment would benefit their eco journey. They were also asked and whether they would be interested in future funding if it became available for bee hives; a wildflower meadow or an interpretation board.
The project was funded by the Cannock Chase Landscape Partnership working in the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where there are several churches on the edge of their green spaces eligible to receive their support. Lichfield Diocese was very pleased to be working with CCLP and is grateful for funding those churches which benefitted from the project.
