Former archdeacon of Salop and Lichfield has died

The Ven George Frost, who served a long and faithful ministry in this diocese died peacefully on Tuesday 16 June.

Following university studies at Durham and training at Lincoln Theological College, George was ordained in 1961. 

After a curacy at St Margaret, Barking, and time as Curate in Charge of Marks Gate, also in the Diocese of Chelmsford, George moved to the Diocese of Lichfield where he held incumbencies at Tipton St Matthew, Penn St Bartholomew and Tong St Bartholomew.

He was appointed a Prebendary of Lichfield Cathedral in 1985, and Archdeacon of Salop in 1987. In 1998 George was appointed Archdeacon of Lichfield and Canon Residentiary and Treasurer of Lichfield Cathedral. He remained there until he retired in 2000.

Since then, George has continued with active ministry PtO ministry and has also supported the Guild of Guides and Welcomers of Lichfield Cathedral.

George is survived by his four sons. His wife Joyce died recently.

Following a family committal, there will be a service of thanksgiving at Lichfield Cathedral at 11am on 3 July.
