Diocesan Advisory Committee – Lay Member Vacancies
The Lichfield DAC is seeking two lay members from Diocesan Synod who see church buildings not as a problem to be managed but as a resource to be used.
We believe that a well-ordered, well-used building and a living, reaching congregation are not in competition with core conservation principles. They reinforce each other.
We are looking to fill two distinct roles:
Elected Synod Member. One vacancy exists for a lay member appointed from among the elected members of Diocesan Synod. This person will bring a genuine interest in how historic buildings can serve contemporary mission, the confidence to advocate for that perspective within a committee setting, and an eye for how space, beauty, and worship can work together rather than against each other.
Accessibility Member. We are also seeking a member with personal knowledge and experience of the issues that arise when securing accessibility for disabled people to buildings and facilities. This is a statutory requirement under the Measure, and we are keen to ensure the DAC has strong, informed voice in this area.
Both roles are open to members of Diocesan Synod, though the accessibility role may also be filled by co-option where the right candidate is found.
If either role describes you, we'd love to hear from you. Contact the DAC Chair – the Revd Phillip Johnson vicar@eccleshall.church or DAC Secretary – Giles Standing giles.standing@lichfield.anglican.org for an informal conversation.
